Fifty people, one question

To highlight the issues behind our campaign to help protect Palestinian homes, we visited Dublin, Cork and Galway with two films and 2 guest speakers. Dearbhla Glynn (Director and winner of the  ICCL’s 2010 Human Rights film Award) presented her short film ‘Fifty People One Question’.  Inspired by the plight of the Palestinian people and she asked 50 people one question. Beautifully shot, this short film gives an insight into our views as a nation on human rights. Watch it below.

Dearbhala also screened of her documentary short:‘Gaza: Post Operation Cast Lead’.

The film tells the shocking story of how civilians are suffering in Gaza as a result of the Israeli apartheid system and the accompanying violence.

Dearbhla says “I made this film to raise awareness of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. They are completely isolated, alienated and, even given recent events, feel that the world has forgotten about them. I hope that the film will be seen by many people in Ireland, both at the ICCL’s film awards and online”.

The second guest speaker was Itay Epshtain Co- Director of Trócaire’s partner organisation, the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD).

Itay told the story of the many Palestinians facing illegal evictions and demolition of their homes in east Jerusalem and West Bank.

Take our e-action here to end illegal house evictions in east Jerusalem.
